What is S-DISCO Days?

The International Master of Science in Sustainable Drug Discovery (S-DISCO) is excited to announce the third annual Sustainable Drug Discovery Days!

Sustainable drug discovery is changing the way we think about medicine. By implementing eco-conscious practices, we protect nature and minimize waste at every stage, from research to production. As demand for sustainable solutions grows, mastering this field opens doors to impactful careers in research, pharmaceuticals, and global health.

In 2025, the main objective of the S-DISCO Days is the integration of computational methods and artificial intelligence into sustainable drug discovery. AI is revolutionizing sustainable drug discovery with faster and more precise target identification, optimized clinical trials with in-silico tools, reduced cost and time for drug development, and more!

Are you interested in sustainable drug discovery?

Join us on May 19th and 20th in Gdansk, Poland or online for the S-DISCO Days 2025! Because innovative medicine needs innovative minds.

DIAMOND

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is the smallest faculty at Ghent University. It profiles itself by carrying out pharmaceutical teaching, multidisciplinary pharmaceutical research and services to third parties. The Dean’s office is the administrative centre and in addition to the numerous central councils and committees that operate on a university-wide scale, it has at its disposal a number of local faculty committees that are competent for a number of specific educational and research-related matters. The teaching at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has as its aim to train students to become experts in medicinal drugs who can apply their scientific knowledge in healthcare, industry or research. In doing so, the Faculty aims to align its study programmes on the one hand with the latest scientific evolutions (primarily by cross-fertilization with the research carried out in the specialised research groups), and on the other hand with the evolution of the social role and tasks of pharmacists.

In the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry, problems at the chemistry-life sciences interface are addressed. A large part of their work concentrates on the development of small molecule modulators of new (i.e., yet unexplored) targets. These modulators can be both enabling chemical tools to interrogate biology or therapeutically useful compounds. From a chemical perspective, much of their work is centered on the chemical synthesis of novel nucleoside, carbohydrate, phosphonate, sphingolipid and bioconjugate chemistry. Several of the running projects deal with the design of new lead structures and PROTACs for the treatment of diseases with unmet medical needs.

The University of Lille, a multidisciplinary institute of excellence at the heart of northwestern Europe, boasts an exceptional cultural and scientific heritage that is an integral part of the history of the Hauts-de-France region. With 72,000 students (9,502 of whom are from overseas), a staff of 6,700, 66 research units and a range of courses that cover all academic disciplines, it is a key stakeholder in the region for education, research and innovation and through its contributions to societal issues. The University also offers 16 courses fully taught in English and 30 run on a bilingual basis.
